This is another place where the people had to wait a long time to be able to use the existing well. So they chose to use an open well instead. Water from this would need to be boiled. It also is hard work for anyone a little older trying to lift a container of water from nearly 30 metres down. As the dry season progressed, it became necessary to dig the well deeper.
We arranged for drilling and this video clip shows the moment that the drill struck good water.
Now they have a new well with a good hand pump. The photo shows the village chief by the well. He has expressed his happiness by making a good donation to the kitty that is kept by the well committee to cover the cost of any repairs that may be needed in the future.
