Off to Burkina Faso again
We do not go to Burkina Faso very often. It is not that we do not want to go. It is just our determination to stick to our pledge that 100% of the money we receive will be spent on wells. So many charities are forced to spend large sums of money on administration, offices, vehicles, advertising etc.. Our aim is a difficult one to keep as the trustees foot the bill for all the things mentioned. That includes air fares so that is why we will not be travelling several times a year!! It may mean we will stay as a small charity, but in our eyes small is beautiful. We have a strong network of support here in UK and an equally dedicated group of locals in Burkina Faso.
It all works on trust and we are rightly proud of the way we spend your money – nothing is wasted and the staff are volunteers and extremely professional.
Read about it in Karen’s Diary
We flew over on January 9th and stayed for nearly 4 weeks. It was an exhausting and exhilarating few weeks, with many highs and lows. Once again there is a ‘Karen’s Diary’ for you to read if you want to find out all the details. It has just been published and is another example of paying for everything from our special Trustees Admin. Account! We only ask you for a donation and that will go in the wells fund and be put towards the next well drilling.
Contact us via e mail or telephone with your details and we will gladly send you a copy. The last diary raised nearly £800 in total – I was amazed but I am aiming high this year and want to get to the £1000 mark. We had some fantastic donations for diary number 1 ranging from £5 to £30 – so someone might want to break that upper limit as well – we like to aim high and I will reinforce the fact that every penny will go to provide water, not just a percentage.
