The news we having been waiting for – Myra’s Wells has drilled 100 wells.
We heard the news yesterday when Christine phoned Eddie. And this morning we received an email to confirm it. Myra’s Wells has drilled 100 wells in Burkina Faso. We praise the Lord and say “Thank you” to all who have supported us with donations and in other ways.
But that is not all!
In the same email, we heard that the drilling company had success at two other places over the weekend. This brings the number to 102 wells drilled. Click here to see the full list.
Here are the brief details. We will have photos to show later and will be able to tell some of the individual stories at the villages. But in the meantime, these are the villages that will now be able to enjoy their newly found clean water.
Number 100 – Tangseega. The well here is 50 metres deep with a flow of 4600 litres per hour. We will put a plaque on this well saying “Ebenezer”. The meaning of Ebenezer? “Hitherto has the Lord helped us”.
Number 101 – Nagare. This well is 56 metres deep with a flow of 5000 litres per hour. We are particularly pleased to have drilled this well. It is a place where we had 2 negative attempts in November.
Number 102 – Boundougiu where the well is 44 metres deep with a flow of 2400 litres per hour.
All of these flow rates are well above the minimum acceptable level of 700 litres per hour.
Who could have imagined it?
It started with the idea of drilling one well in memory of Eddie’s first wife, Myra. (You can read about the start of Myra’s Wells by clicking here.) That first well, at Zongo school, is still providing clean water. Nobody thought it would be more than that one well. Except Christine! She very soon started to talk about 100 wells. We were skeptical, but now, we are full of praise to the Lord for what has been achieved.
Thank you to Christine and her helpers.
Christine, and those who help her, all give their time and energy voluntarily. They visit villages and collect the details that we need. We use this information to choose where to try for water. They then make the arrangements with the drilling companies and surveyors. And oversee the drilling. And visit again for the “well blessing” and to take photographs. Without their help, we would not be able to say, “Myra’s Wells has drilled 100 wells in Burkina Faso”.
Now Christine has already mentioned the words “two hundred”!
So we will continue while God gives strength. And we will also continue with our “100% promise”. Every penny that we are given will be used to drill wells. Myra’s Wells trustees personally fund all other expenses. If you would like to help us towards that next big milestone, click here to see our “How to Donate” page.
